ANSTO is the home of Australia’s most significant landmark and national infrastructure for research, including the OPAL multi-purpose nuclear reactor, the Australian Synchrotron, the Centre for Accelerator Science, and the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) and the National Deuteration Facility. Thousands of scientists from industry and academia benefit from gaining access to state-of-the-art instruments every year.
The Lucas Heights campus tour will include a visit to:
§ Open Pool Australian Light-water (OPAL) multi-purpose reactor, regarded as one of the world’s safest and most reliable multi-purpose reactors;
§ The Centre for Accelerator Science, an internationally recognised centre for ion beam analysis and accelerator mass spectrometry.
§ The Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering, a major research facility for neutron science that comprises a suite of neutron instruments

ANSTO’s Lucas Heights campus is 40km south-west of the Sydney CBD.
Attendees will be required to make independent travel arrangements to Sydney should they wish to join a tour.
